Cryoelectra has been selected to supply high-power solid-state RF amplifiers (SSA) for the MYRRHA Phase 1 | MINERVA accelerator, one of Europe’s most advanced nuclear research projects. The contract marks a significant contribution to the development of a next-generation accelerator-driven system.
The scope includes approximately 80 SSA units, delivering a combined RF power of 1.5 MW across multiple frequencies. These systems will play a central role in proton acceleration, supporting key applications such as advanced nuclear research and the production of medical radioisotopes.
As part of the project, Cryoelectra will develop and qualify a 150 kW prototype amplifier before full deployment. The RF systems will operate at frequencies of 176.1 MHz and 352.2 MHz, covering different stages of the accelerator and ensuring stable and efficient beam acceleration.
MYRRHA combines a particle accelerator with a subcritical nuclear reactor, creating a unique platform for research into nuclear waste transmutation, material science, and isotope production. The reliability and efficiency of the RF systems are therefore critical to overall facility performance.
This project underlines Cryoelectra’s capability in delivering large-scale, high-power RF systems and highlights its position as a key technology partner for next-generation accelerator infrastructures.
